A theatre (1300 seats) from the 2nd century BC near Goktepe, is worth seeing, together with Bodrum Castle presenting the architectural style of the 15th century which is now a museum of underwater archaeology. A different spectacle in Bodrum is its marina, which is a busy place, hosting elegant yachts that come from all parts of the world. Bodrum Cup Race is held every October. Remains
of the Persian age are scarce, but this beautiful sphinx (now in the
archaeological museum in the castle of Bodrum)
compensates much. It
is a rare example of free-standing Achaemenid art. One reason for
the paucity of Persian remains is that they belong to the oldest,
and deepest strata, which are hard to excavate in a city near the
sea.
Dedeman

The local travel agents run excursions there, but you

The park covers an area of some 40,000 square metres. It

and nightclubs.
